For the Russian people Lake Baikal is a natural treasure. Located in Siberia near the Mongolian border, and surrounded by mountains,
forests and wild rivers, Baikal is an immense and breathtaking area of physical beauty. Baikal holds twenty percent of the earth’s
fresh water and harbors more endemic species of plants and animals than any other lake in the world. Fed by 336 rivers and streams
including the Angara, Barguzin, Selenga, Turka and Snezhnaya, the lake holds fifty species of fish including bullhead, sturgeon and omul.

If you are not a Siberian, you will probably have the only single reason to go to Sheregesh: the local snow, which is unique. Starting from the beginning of November until the beginning of March there’s at least 2 m of high quality snow. The local powder is dry and fast and is considered to be the best snow in Russia. However, the snowboarders who decide to go to Sheregesh have to survive an 8-hour long way from Moscow to Sheregesh, the famous Siberian frost, and lack of apres ski.

Russian Altai invites you to enjoy the mystery of Teletskoye Lake, to experience the attractiveness of the great Siberian Mountain Belucha, to amaze oneself with the impetuousness of the river Katun and discover many other wonders preserved in this wonderful fairy world.
Teletskoye Lake is one of the best sights in Russian Altai. Its territory is not completely explored by the tourists – it still keeps many secrets from us. In Altai language the lake is called “Altyn-Kel” that means “Golden Lake”. An old legend is hidden behind this name.
